Training Workshops

2011 – present Southeast Asian Animal Enrichment and Training Workshop
5 day comprehensive hands-on workshop for keepers, trainers, curators, and managers of captive terrestrial and aquatic animals hosted by Ocean Adventure and Wildlife in Need. Workshop includes lecture, demonstrations, small group work, and hands-on activities with resident animals. Offered on an annual basis.

2010 – present Medical Management of Stranded Marine Mammals
3-day hands-on workshop for veterinarians and technicians on the techniques and practices for caring for stranded cetaceans, both as first responders and in rehabilitation. Curriculum includes lectures, discussion, hands-on work with cetaceans and in the laboratory, and live demonstrations of sample collection from dolphins. Offered on an annual basis.

2005 – present Cetacean Stranding Response, Subic Bay, Philippines
3-day workshop for staff from government agencies, NGO’s, and other stakeholders on the techniques for responding to and caring for stranded cetaceans and dugongs. This workshop is the cornerstone of the Phiippine Marine Mammal Stranding Network. Offered multiple times per year on as-needed basis.

2006 3rd Workshop for Zookeepers Association of the Philippines
5-day intensive course on positive reinforcement training techniques and environmental enrichment activities through lecture, demonstration, and hands-on work with marine mammals and terrestrial species at Ocean Adventure and Wildlife in Need Rescue Center.
